Dr Timsina is a globally respected agricultural scientist specialising on agronomy, soil management and agroecosystems sustainability. He has worked with some of the world’s most respected agriculture research institutes such as the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI)’s and the International Maize and Wheat Research Centre (CIMMYT)’s headquarters in the Philippines and Mexico and country offices in Bangladesh. He has led a number of research projects on crop modelling, soil and plant nutrition, food security, and sustainable agricultural intensification, to name a few.
Dr. Timsina has served as a senior research fellow at the University of Melbourne (UoM) and as a senior research scientist at CSIRO, Australia. Currently, he is a Senior Fellow with the Global Ever Greening Alliance, headquartered in Melbourne. He is also an Adjunct Professor with the Agriculture and Forestry University and an Honorary Professor at the Himalayan College of Agricultural Science and Technology, both located in Nepal. He has worked as an editorial board member to Elsevier's Field Crops Research and a few other journals in the past. Currently, he is an Editor to Elsevier's Agricultural Systems journal and is an editorial board member of Global Journal of Agriculture and Allied Sciences. He has reviewed papers for several agriculture and environment related journals and published over 150 scientific papers in various peer-reviewed international journals.
With extensive field work experiences in Australia, Philippines, Nepal, India, and Bangladesh, Dr. Timsina brings an applied, problem-solving and community-driven research and innovation expertise critical to achieve Sustainable Development Goals on reducing hunger and terrestrial sustainability.
