Dr Ghimire has more than 20 years of experience in agricultural research and extension. He is currently working for wheat physiology research in Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO) based in Canberra, Australia. Dr Ghimire worked in the Ministry of Agricultural Development, Nepal for about 7 years (1996~2003) as an agronomist. Subsequently, he received scholarship to pursue postgraduate research in Kyungpook National University, South Korea. Dr Ghimire completed Masters and PhD in Agronomy with specialisation of abiotic stress tolerance in crop plants. He also worked as a postdoctoral fellow in Kyungpook National University and then in agricultural research centre of Rural Development Administration (RDA), South Korea during 2008-2009.
Dr Ghimire worked as an adviser to NRNA Australia from 2017 to 2019 and vice president of NRNA Australia from 2013 to 2015. In between, he also worked as a chair of technical working committee for Skill, Knowledge & Innovation (SKI) task force of NRNA Australia from 2015 to 2017. Dr Ghimire was the recipient of prestigius community award "NRNA Australia of the year 2017~19". Dr Ghimire believes in continuous learning through active participation in professional associations.
