Canberra, ACT – The Nepalese Association of Agriculture, Forestry & Environment in Australia (NEPAFE), in collaboration with Chiya Guff Run Club, Nepalese Society of Tasmania (NEST), Nourish Nation Foundation, and supported by the City of Hobart and Tasmania Mountain Biking Adventures (TASMBA), is set to host a unique community event titled Cycling for Climate Action Awareness on Saturday, 25th October 2025.
This half-day initiative aims to raise awareness about climate change, promote sustainable transport, and foster community engagement through a guided cycling tour along Hobart’s scenic Intercity Cycleway.
A Ride with Purpose
Starting at 8:00 AM from the Regatta Ground Carpark, the event will kick off with registration, a warm-up session, and a formal welcome including an Acknowledgement of Country. Community leaders and guest speakers will share insights on local climate action and sustainability efforts.
Participants will then embark on a 10 km guided bike ride, with stops at Gas Road Public Park and Cornelian Bay Park. These stops will feature short talks, refreshments, and opportunities for reflection on environmental stewardship and community resilience.
Inclusive and Educational
The event is designed to be inclusive, welcoming participants of all ages and backgrounds. TASMBA will provide safety inductions and bike support, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone. Bikes will be available for those who need them.
The ride will conclude by 12:30 PM with a reflection session, snack pack distribution, and closing remarks at Regatta Point.
Community and Climate at the Core
Organisers expect participants from different communities, and hope the event will serve as a model for future climate-focused community engagement programs. The initiative aligns with broader goals of climate resilience, active lifestyles, and cultural inclusivity.
NEPAFE Secretary Sujan Neupane emphasized the importance of community-led climate action:
“This event is not just about cycling—it’s about connecting people, sharing knowledge, and inspiring change through collective action.”
